The Environmental Committee at Woodhill high school

This year saw the inauguration of a new student committee in Woodhill high school – The Environmental Committee.

The committee’s main project for the year, was to design and plant a water-wise garden next to the sports office.

A central feature of the garden is a beautiful sundial which was a gift to the school from the grade 12 Class of 2017.

The birds started visiting the garden from the moment that the bird feeders were put in and we have special species like the red-headed finch that come for their food daily.

The learners and teachers have come to really enjoy the constant chirping from the garden.

The committee and other volunteers planted the garden in Term 1 and now in Term 3, as spring approaches, the garden is looking lovely, having survived the cold period well.
