Plumbers, contracted by Tshwane metro were unable to carry out the scheduled emergency repairs on a major water leak in the pipeline feeding into the Meintjieskop reservoir on Wednesday.
This was because the reservoir still required a significant repair work.

“We temporarily shut down the reservoir on 26 September at 06:00 to allow the reservoir to be completely empty. However, the water level could not drop as expected and is currently sitting at 23%,” group communication and marketing department at the Tshwane metro said.
Technicians are expected to continue monitoring the water levels.

“If all goes well and the reservoir is empty by tomorrow morning, 28 September, the repair work will commence at 08:00 till 16:00,” the department said.
“The city apologises for the inconvenience that will arise as a result of this service interruption.”
