North teen doubles up as international beauty queen
Miss Talent 2017 chats about loss, winning and everything in between.
Beautiful, brainy and bold are the first words which come to mind when speaking to Talitha Bothma (17).
The triple-threat teen has already won over 100 modelling titles in the past few years.
“I’m a proud resident of Onderstepoort, just outside of Pretoria North. I grew up mainly in Pretoria,” said Bothma.
She is one of five children – two sisters, Vanessa and Kyla (who passed away when she was 17), Abey and baby brother, Iziah.
This beauty was 15 when she decided to enter her first pageant.
“I had a major knee injury from dancing so my mom advised me to choose another activity. I ended up choosing to model – I absolutely love being on stage,” she said.

Not only is she a model, but also an actress and a TV presenter. “Having won many titles as a model, people started contacting me and my mother and I carefully decided what I should do.”
She said acting helped her to release energy – “I’m very active and outgoing.”
Bothma had some challenges along the way.
“With regard to dancing, the injury I had was one of my biggest challenges, the jealousy in the acting industry is also something I have come across. My biggest challenge was personal – losing my sister.”

She has won many titles throughout her short career.
“I have won over 100 modelling titles in the past two years. It takes plenty of hard work and determination, you have to reinvent yourself and build yourself – no one in the industry will do it for you,” she said.
“With modelling my biggest inspiration is Candice Swanepoel, acting would be Charlize Theron and with dance, it would be my dear friend, Andrea Truter.”
Be sure to look out for this young woman.
“I’m currently busy with four international competitions. I’m a contestant in Miss Globe, where I won the Miss Talent competition, then I’ll be off to Portugal for Global Model.”
