The Tshwane metro is investigating why one of its buses has burnt down in the CBD on Friday morning.
The metro is distressed by the incident in which the bus literally burnt to the ground, according to a statement by metro spokesperson Lindela Mashiga.
Three other vehicles parked alongside the road were also damaged in the fire.
Apparently the bus was travelling from the east to Danville when it caught fire.

“According to the bus driver, he noticed smoke coming from the rear and front of the bus,” said Mashiga. “He immediately stopped the bus at the departure point situated on Pretorius Street, between Thabo Sehume and Paul Kruger Streets.”

Fortunately the bus did not have any passengers on board and the driver did not sustain any injuries.
The driver was however taken to the Bougainville hospital for treatment of shock and smoke inhalation.
The exact cause of the fire is not yet known.
An investigation will be held by the Tshwane metro police department as well as Tshwane bus services.
