Two men arrested for drug dealing in the north

He said police found many school kids on the premises who said they had come to buy sepatlho (quarter) for lunch.

Two suspected drug dealers were arrested in Hammanskraal following a tip-off from residents, police said.

Police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said the two men, aged 26 and 27, were arrested on Friday afternoon in Marokolong, Temba, north of Pretoria.

“Police received a complaint from a school about a shop selling drugs and liquor to school kids. During operations, police surprised the shop with the visit,” said Moremi.

He said the police found “many school children” on the premises who said they were there to buy sepatlho (quarter) for lunch.

“Upon searching the premises, police found nyaope in small plastic bags under the counter and liquor in a freezer. The drugs carried a street value of more than R3 000,” he said.

Moremi said the suspects failed to produce a liquor licence so all liquor was seized.

“They were arrested immediately will face charges of possession of drugs and a penalty for dealing in liquor without a licence,” she said.

Police found nyaope rapped in small plastics under the counter inside the shop.
