Centurion sinkhole drilling may have caused more damage

Ward councillor sent out a warning about road closures.

High-risk geological drillings at the Jean Avenue and Gerhard Street intersection in pothole-ravaged Centurion may have caused more damage.

Ward councillor David Farquhardson issued a statement saying motorists and pedestrians should be aware of the new development.

“Please be aware and communicate that the eastbound left lane of Jean Avenue, after the South Street intersection, just past Ridgeback restaurant, will be barricaded due to high-risk geological conditions being discovered after drilling investigations were conducted,” he said.

The left lane will be closed to traffic because of the instability.

The right lane will remain open.
