Electricity maintenance depot opens in Hammanskraal

The depot will improve the living conditions of the Region 2 communities.

As part of efforts to address an infrastructure backlog, the Tshwane metro has opened an electricity maintenance depot in Temba, Hammanskraal.

The depot, located on Jubilee Road, next to Temba police station, was officially unveiled by Tshwane MMC for utility services, Darryl Moss on Friday.

Moss said the depot would improve the living conditions of the region 2 communities.

“Hammanskraal has serious infrastructure backlogs, including depots such as this one. The operationalisation of the depot is another initiative of the city to bring services closer to the people and deal with backlogs, thus improving the turnaround times for the resolution of service delivery complaints,” said Moss.

The MMC marked the official opening with a ribbon cutting, which was followed by a walkabout in the facility.

He said the depot had received the necessary resources to start operating.

“These consist of five offices, change rooms, a kitchen, storage space, ablution facilities and covered parking.”

The depot was established to minimise the response times for the maintenance of street and high-mast lights in Hammanskraal.

“When residents witness the opening of this facility, they expect better performance. We aim to improve service delivery and this depot will benefit the people in this region by ensuring quick response times to repairs,” said Moss.
