INFOGRAPHIC: Pretoria police operation a success

“More operations of this magnitude are set to take place as we gear up for the festive season.”

Twenty suspects were arrested in a joint crime operation in the west of Pretoria.

The operation, dubbed Fiela and a joint effort between police, Telkom, Icasa, Fidelity, ADT and customs officials, was held in Pretoria West, the CBD and Olievenhoutbosch last Wednesday.

The arrests were for a number of offences including possession of drugs, dealing in drugs and possession of illegal gambling machines.

Several second-hand goods dealers and liquor outlets were raided. Substantial fines and warnings were issued for various contraventions.

Illegal liquor outlets were closed down and large consignments of alcohol confiscated.

Icasa also confiscated electronic equipment not Icasa compliant.

Illegal gambling machines were confiscated in Olievenhoutbosch.

“More operations of this magnitude are set to take place as we gear up for the festive season,” said police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane.
