Illegal alcohol distributors will find their fridges empty after alcohol and dagga plants were confiscated at the informal settlement of Woodline village, formerly known as Plastic View near Moreleta Park, east of Pretoria.
Garsfontein police led an operation on Tuesday, 21 November aimed at combating crime in the area.

Sector manager Warrant Officer Henriette Gouws said the community faced a lot of alcohol-related crimes.
“We get many reports of violent crimes in the settlement that are connected to alcohol use,” she said.
With the help of Fedility ADT, Brinant and Bull security teams, the police raided places that were suspected of any illegal activities and 181 bottles of liquor were found and three dagga plants were uprooted.
The alleged alcohol distributors were unavailable when their homes were raided.

Police however said they had reliable information on which homes were selling liquor without permission.
Gouws said some members of the community were linked to business break-ins that happened in the Garsfontein area.
A man from the settlement was arrested for breaking into a business early this month. Police said their investigation into the matter may lead them to a larger group that is suspected of committing similar crimes.
Operations will continue during the festive season, Gouws said.
The police urge members of the community to be vigilant during the festive season and report any suspicious behaviour.
“The police will ensure that community members are protected. We need the community to work with us by reporting any criminal activity or suspicious behaviour,” said Gouws.
