Parts of Ga-Rankuwa and Soshanguve entered day three on Friday without water.
The Tshwane metro said it had shut the water supply down to do “a tie-in connection” to a Ga-Rankuwa zone 6 east reservoir pipe.

“This connection is part of the two bulk water pipelines upgrade in Ga-Rankuwa,” the metro said.
Some residents in blocks WW, VV, VW, and UU said they had been without water since Monday 20 November.
“The pipes in Ga-Rankuwa were predominantly old asbestos cement and the water supply system design was not up to the required standard. The city undertook to replace the worn-out water network with new pipes in order to address capacity constraints and maintenance,” the metro said urging for patience while it fixed the problem.
“The city apologises profusely for the inconvenience that may be encountered as a result of the connection work.
“Supply is expected to be back to normal as soon as possible.”
