Crime prevention operations conducted by the Tshwane Central Cluster saw 34 suspects arrested for various criminal activities over the weekend.
The operations were conducted in the seven police stations namely; Pretoria Moot, Silverton, Villieria, Garsfontein, Lyttelton, Sunnyside and Brooklyn.
Spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said the operations were focused on ensuring a safe festive season for all.

“Police were looking at property and drug related crimes, unlicensed firearms and offences under the road traffic act such as driving under the influence. This resulted in 34 suspects being arrested, two stolen firearms and stolen vehicle recovered.”
Breedt said police in all seven stations set up stop and search roadblocks.
Ten suspects were arrested for drug related crimes, eight for driving under the influence, eight for theft, one for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, two for housebreaking and theft, two for malicious damage to property, one for possession of stolen property, one for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and one for assault common.
He said police in the Moot recovered a Nissan Micra stolen earlier this month in Tzaneen.
“Both occupants of the vehicle were found in possession of firearms with serial numbers removed but the driver managed to escape though.”
A 22-year-old man was arrested in another incident after trying to flee from the police.

He was found with a 9mm pistol with the serial number filled off.
“These sort of operations will continue during and after the festive season to ensure that there will be heightened police visibility in the areas where a large number of people gather to enjoy the festive season,” Breedt said.
All those arrested are expected to appear in the Hatfield Community and Pretoria Magistrate courts on Monday.
Breedt urged the public to report suspicious activities, persons or vehicles in their residential areas to the police by phoning the 10111 emergency number.
