“He was arrested when we followed up on a tip-off we received at Selosecha section in Majaneng,” said police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi.
Police found the two large bags of dagga after searching the man’s house and arrested him.
Moremi said the man told police he had been advised by medical university students to plant dagga and use it together with moringa herb to heal people.
The man claimed he had forgotten the names of the university students in question.
Police believe that the man grew the dagga in his yard and sold it at R10 000 a bag.
Police records revealed that the man was previously arrested at Babelegi industrial area last year also for possession of dagga, but was later released.
