Protesters have successfully handed over their memorandum to the police.
Rekord reported earlier that ward councillor, Thabo Ntlatheng said himself, along with residents of Nellmapius will walk to the Silverton police station on Saturday to hand over a memorandum.
“We have given the police seven days to respond to our memorandum,” he said.
“They [police] agreed and said they will respond.”
The memorandum outlined the issue of drugs and lawlessness in Nellmapius.

“The amount of drugs and dealers have increased beyond proportion,” Ntlatheng said.
“Drugs kill our children and has a negative impact on our society. We need to put a stop to this.”
In the memorandum, residents expressed lack of trust of the Silverton police by the residents.
Residents also expressed concern about police taking bribes from the drug dealers.
They also said they worry about the unavailability of police vehicles when a crime is reported.

Ntlatheng accused police of not doing enough to get dealers behind bars.
Sanco chairman, Patrick Mathibela said that drug dealers were operating with impunity in the area, and that residents, as well as police, knew where the drug dens were.
“Why are they not being arrested?” Silverton police station commander, Colonel Karel Swanepoel accepted the memorandum and promised the residents he would look into their demands.
“We must not fight with each other, we must fight against the criminals. We urge community members to provide us with information about corrupt police officers and drug dealers and we will deal with them,” said Swanepoel.
