Water has been restored to homes in the north of Pretoria after outages at the weekend.
Sinoville was affected the most, according to ward 50 councillor Lenise Breytenbach.
“We suspect sabotage, as equipment was stolen from the area’s reservoir. We need more security to prevent these criminal acts.
“I’ve taken up the issue with disaster management as well as our mayor,” said Breytenbach.

In October the reservoir in Annlin overflowed due to the theft of control circuits.
Several homes and gardens were damaged in the resulting flood.
Breytenbach said repair teams acted quickly on Sunday to prevent another disaster and to restored water to residents.
“Some of the valves at the reservoir were closed for repairs, which also caused low water pressure.
Breytenbach said old water pipes were also of concern.
“Apart from the concerns at the reservoir, water leaks were also reported in the area,” said Breytenbach.
She said all water leaks must be reported to Tshwane metro.

“Residents will be issued with a reference number that can be used to follow up and ensure the leaks are repaired,” said Breytenbach.
“I’ve received some complaints from residents saying that water is wasted during repairs of the old pipes, and so I feel it’s necessary to explain that the pipes have to be flushed.
“When replacing a water pipe, the air has to be flushed out. The immense pressure of water pushing through an air-filled pipe may cause another burst – therefore this process is necessary.”
Tshwane metro said on Sunday repairs were taking place.
