The Tshwane metro has blamed bad weather for power outages in Zwavelpoort, Mooikloof farms and Lynwood Ridge on Sunday.
“The outages were caused by last night’s strong winds and rainy weather,” said metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo on Monday.

“Technicians are working to address these power failures. It is anticipated that power will be restored to all the affected areas by 17:00 this afternoon,” he said.
Residents, however, said they experienced power cuts almost every day.
“We have power cuts at least once a week without warning,” said Zwavelpoort resident Francois van Emmenes.
“Apparently one of the main feeding lines has trees that are affecting the electricity, but I think it’s a maintenance issue,” he said.

“We do not get any direct answer from the city – sometimes it’s the weather; the next it’s the trees.”
Van Emmenes said he had laid a formal complaint with the city manager, but hadyet to receive any response.
Meanwhile, the city said it was attending to another power failure affecting Kraanvoël Avenue and Vink Street, which was caused by cable theft in Silverton.
“We apologise for any delays and inconvenience caused while addressing these service delivery mishaps,” said Mashigo.
