A 30-year-old man was arrested after he managed to gain entry into a house in an estate in the Equestria area on Sunday morning.
“He gained access into the complex by pressing random number combinations [at the gate],” Brinant security group spokesperson Stephen Wolmarans said.
Wolmarans said they had security footage which showed the robber at the gate.
“The security officer on duty notified the area supervisor who managed to arrest the suspect after a short chase,” he said.
Wolmarans said the robber was found hiding in the bushes along Simon Vermooten Road.
“Stolen property was recovered and the suspect was handed over to Silverton SAPS,” he said.
Wolmarans said the robber was found in possession of a watch he had stolen.

Silverton police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said the robber had broken into a house.
“One of the neighbours notified the owner that their alarm was going off,” Sepato said.
He said the owner found the Brinant security group officers at the scene.
“The officers told him to check if anything was stolen,” he said.
Sepato said the owner did not immediately notice anything was missing.
“Brinant officers showed the owner of the house clothing items they found and the owner identified them as belonging to him,” he said.
Sepato said the robber was expected to appear in court soon.
