Three employees of the Laudium Post Office in Centurion are facing charges of business robbery and perjury after being caught out by the police.
Octavia Vilikazi (34), Norah Seebani (40) and Francina Segodi (61) appeared in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
It was reported that the women were arrested for reporting a false case of business robbery.
Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango confirmed the women were employees of the Post Office at the Laudium branch and had allegedly contrived to report they were attacked and robbed of R7 000 by two armed suspects.

“After intensive intelligence-driven investigations with the Tshwane trio task team it was established that the suspects colluded in the fabrication of the false case,” said Msimango.
Johan Kruger spokesperson for the SA Post Office said the women have not been at work since the alleged robbery, having said to the area office that they had been booked off due to trauma of the incident.
“At this stage the area office had no idea they had been arrested,” said Kruger.
He said the women have since been suspended, pending disciplinary procedures.
Kruger also said the stolen cash was revenue meant to be banked.

He said the employees had been working for the SA Post Office for a number of years.
“One was appointed in December 2011, one in August 2005 and other in November 1994.”
The women were released on R1 000 bail each and are expected to be back in court in January 2018.
