Police have arrested a man who was wounded in a shootout with security officers following a jewellery store robbery at the Grove mall yesterday.
The man was arrested at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital while receiving treatment for the gunshot wounds he sustained while escaping the scene of the robbery on Thursday evening.
Police spokesperson Captain Mavimbela confirmed that they received information that the robber was admitted into Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital with two gunshot wounds.

The suspect, who is 23-years-old, was receiving treatment when the police arrested him.
Mavimbela said they are still searching for the other suspects and appeal to the public for any information that can lead to their arrest.
Mavimbela said the man is expected to be charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances and will appear in court next week.
Grove Mall general manager Julie-Anne Nel said they are working closely with the SAPS in investigating the matter.
“We want to assure the public that their safety and security is of utmost importance and the mall is open as usual.”
