A man, thought to be in his thirties, was found in possession of drugs worth R7 500 on Jean Avenue in Lyttelton on Friday morning.
Lyttelton police station commander Colonel Daniel Phogole was driving to work when he noticed a suspicious vehicle and decided to follow it, said police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.

“The vehicle skipped a red light and the station commander followed the vehicle and blocked him at the next red traffic light.”
“When he got out of the vehicle to establish why the man skipped the red light, the person inside the vehicle was acting suspicious and nervous.”
Miller said the commander instructed the person to exit the vehicle and, upon searching the man, 14 packets of narcotics were found.
“The man was subsequently arrested and will face charges relating to drug trafficking and possession of narcotics,” said Miller.
