A courtroom packed with people in black greeted the seven accused in the case of the missing Mooinooi pair, Anisha and Joey van Niekerk.
Aaron Sithole (23), Alex Mudau (36), Moses Rakubu (33), Koos Strydom (53), Vincent Strydom (29) and Maruschka Opperman (18) and an unidentified minor appeared in Brits Magistrate’s Court today for a bail hearing.

Activist Elsa Lourens had posted a request on Facebook for sympathisers to wear black to the hearing to show support for the missing women and to highlight Brits residents’ concern about the high crime rate in the area.
The hearing was postponed to 10 January to give the accused an opportunity to obtain legal representation, said Warrant Officer Mpeile Talane.
Talane said the police awaited DNA test results to establish if the remains recovered in the bushes near the R104 in Buffelsfontein were those of the missing women.
The two women went missing on 10 December on their way to a funeral in Pretoria.
