Search on for ‘Brenda Fassie’

The audition is open to all South Africans for the part of Brenda.

Showbizbee film productions has called on all South Africans to take part in their “search for Brenda Fassie” campaign.

The announcement was made last week Friday as the largest open audition in South African history for the highly-anticipated Brenda Fassie movie got underway.

Pamela Naidoo public relations director/producer for Showbizbee said the search campaign will be open via www.brendathemovie.net.

“The audition is open to all South Africans for the part of Brenda. Applicants must upload a 1-2 minutes video of why they are the best-suited to play the part of Brenda Fassie.”

“Upload to Youtube and send the link to Showbizbee and our casting team will make a shortlist of the most suitable applicants.”

“Showbizbee will then announce to South Africa who will be Brenda Fassie. The closing date for the search is February 11, 2018,” said Naidoo.

Director Edward W Shaw said it was great news that the public received the news on the film well. “As a production company, we listen to what the audience want.”

“That is why we have decided that an all-South African cast will be sought for the film.”

“We are determined to ensure that the part of Brenda Fassie is open to everyone, for all to have a chance at this role. We are looking forward to seeing the applicants,” said Shaw.

Producer Pamela Naidoo said: “Brenda the movie is going to be an amazing film. As a South African myself, it is a privilege to work on this exciting project. The fans are going to go crazy about this film and indeed the entire country, so we are focused on not letting them down.”

Brenda Nokuzola Fassie was a South African anti-apartheid Afropop singer. Affectionately called MaBrrr by her fans, she was sometimes described as the “Queen of African Pop” or the “Madonna of the Townships” or simply as the Black Madonna. Her bold stage antics earned a reputation for outrageousness.
