NOTICE: Water interruptions in the Moot

"This situation will be addressed today with the highest possible priority."

Some parts of the Moot area have been without water since Sunday.

This is due to a water pipe burst on the corner of Soutpansberg Road and Stead Avenue, according to ward councillor Roelof Fourie.

“We were informed by the regional director that the burst pipe has been dug open. Unfortunately, it is an old asbestos/ceramic pipe which was damaged,” said Fourie.

He said some further digging probably needed to take place to make sure that the full extent of the damage was exposed and evaluated.

“If the damage is not too severe and no unforeseen complications arise, the pipe should be repaired today still. Please bear in mind that once the pipe is repaired, the network needs to fill with water again. Taking all into account, it is likely that there will not be a normal water supply for quite a number of hours.”
