A concerned parent at the school Zakhele Bibo welcomed the decision with “both arms”.
“It’s a welcome decision because we have been struggling,” said Bibo.
According to education department spokesperson Steve Mabona, the principal would be charged with:
– Allowing people without proper qualifications and licences to teach at the school.
– Permitting salary disparities among employees at the school.
– Failure to notify the school governing body that he had employed family members at the school.
– Failure to use money allocated for a food handler at the school.
It was also alleged the principal employed a legal advisor and bookkeeper, without the approval of the school governing body last year.
In addition, a Grade 2 post was advertised irregularly without the knowledge and approval of the governing body.
It was also alleged that the principal paid a school governing body member more than R60 000, without following proper procedures.

A district official will manage the school during the disciplinary process.
Bibo, however, said the suspension did not resolve all of the problems at the school.
“We still have questions which must be answered and we do not recognise the current school governing body because of all the shenanigans with the suspended principal,” he said.
