Car thieves, drug dealers nabbed in CBD
Police received a tip-off about a group of men roaming around the CBD and stealing cars.
A clean-up operation by the Pretoria Central police netted major arrests in the CBD on Thursday.
Spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the police received a tip-off about a group of men roaming around the CBD and stealing cars and one of them was arrested at the corner of Mandela Drive and Du Toit Street.
Selepe said the suspect admitted to stealing cars with his friends.
“Through information received from the suspect, an additional two suspects were found in possession of three stolen vehicles, which were found at two different houses in Mabopane.”

Two men were arrested for dealing in narcotics in a different incident, according to Selepe.
She said street patrols, roadblocks, and stops-and-searches resulted in more than 40 arrests this week for possession of drugs.
“Pretoria Central SAPS, in partnership with various law enforcement, will tirelessly intensive operation to ensure that crime is defeated throughout the city to curb problematic crimes such as drugs, theft of motor vehicles, smash and grab and others crimes,” Selepe said.
“We thank the community for information that led to the arrest of these suspects.”
The Tshwane metro police were involved in the various operations.
