Home affairs to deal with long queues
Minister Gigaba has directed his department to prepare a comprehensive report and strategy on managing the long queues across the country.
Minister Malusi Gigaba has ordered a strategy for dealing with the long queues at the home affairs offices across the country.
The department said Gigaba had been inundated with complaints about the length of time citizens spent in line at home affairs outlets.
I really think you need to take a look at the #Centurion #homeaffairs office @HomeAffairsSA. They make people come very early, stand outside in the sun and rain for hours, and then told to go home at 11:00 because they're not taking in any more people. There's also no parking

“A comprehensive report and an effective strategy on how to deal with this matter swiftly are a high priority as the department remains committed to delivering high-quality services to citizens and other clients,” said the department on Tuesday.

“The department has made major strides in improving service delivery and will use the limited resources at its disposal to ensure the public is served humanely, professionally and efficiently.”
Social media users immediately shared their experiences in the long queues.

#HomeAffairs offices are appalling. I tried waiting in line for 3 hours in Durban and 3 hours in Verulam. Nothing will change the number of IDs or passports that need to be issued. Charges high. Reorganise / employ more staff

@StephenGrootes Hi Steven, the ehomeaffairs is also not helping, Lynnwood and Centurion FNB don't take appointments for the next six months, and it also takes longer to get your ID/Passport from the bank. This is really frustrating everywhere! #homeaffairs
