UPDATE: Pretoria ‘fraudster’ still on the run
The suspect targets black-owned companies with the promise of getting them business in the mining sector.
A 62-year-old Pretoria North man sought by the police on fraud charges involving millions of rands is still at large.
Jacobus Boshoff, suspected of a fraud scam to the tune of R38 million, was believed to be hiding in Pretoria.
“Forensic investigators were tasked to pursue available leads, but so far we have not heard anything,” said investigating officer Captain Julius Masengi.

The police said the suspect allegedly caused his victims to believe he owned a mine and wanted to give them shares to obtain a BEE status.
“The suspect would then demand the victim’s company details including financial records, defraud them then disappear,” Masengi said.
Five of the 11 charges were laid in Pretoria, and two of his alleged offences were committed in Sinoville, two in Brooklyn and one in Pretoria Central.
