Weekend operation nabs 157 in the north
The suspects will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve, Moretele or Pretoria North magistrates’ courts soon, while the illegal immigrants will be deported, police said.
A total of 157 people were arrested during a joint crime prevention operation by the Tshwane north cluster police.
Spokesperson Captain Sarah Lesabane said they were arrested when police stations in the cluster teamed up in an anti-crime operation.
“The suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from murder, assault with the intent of grievous bodily harm, common assault , driving under the influence of alcohol, violation of a protection order, business burglary, failing to appear at court, malicious damage to property, possession of dagga, fraud, rape, dealing in liquor without a licence and attempted murder,” said Lesabane.

Hot spots such as zone 14 in Ga-Rankuwa, Marry Me informal settlement near Akasia and Aubrey Matlala Road in Soshanguve were also visited.
“The suspects will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve, Moretele or Pretoria North magistrates’ courts soon, while the illegal immigrants will be deported,” Lesabane said.
Police management called on residents to report criminal activities to the police.
