The Midrand SPCA is investigating a case of animal cruelty after a cat was found hanging by a rope on a tree in Midstream.
The cat named ‘Wollie’ was found on Wednesday by residents and was taken to Petstream Vet for an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
It was established that Wollie had suffered a broken back which was consistent with the hanging.
In a statement the SPCA said it was receiving assistance from Petstream and Midstream HOA to find the person behind the cruel act.

“The Midrand SPCA is currently following a possible lead in this case, but we ask that if anyone has any information, to please come forward so that cruelty charges may be laid in terms of the Animal Protection Act,” it said in a statement.
It said the owners of the cat had been found and were devastated at the loss of their pet.
The animal organisation has urged people with information to contact General Manager, Pam Pretorius, with any info on 0112-65-9936.
“All complaints are kept anonymous and we won’t disclose the details of those that come forward to assist in this matter.”
