Hammanskaal police are keeping a close eye on the R101 and N1 highways following closures due to protest action in the area.
On Friday morning a dispute between two rival taxi associations over a route between Hammanskraal and Marapyane in Limpopo saw the closure of the R101.

Police spokesperson Captain Sarah Lesabane said the drivers blocked the road with their vehicles in protest.
Sixteen cars were impounded but no arrest was made.
“There was no violence, but police had to act to ensure that roads were open to motorists,” she said.
On Thursday residents of Kekana Gardens in the area blocked the N1 highway near the Carousel Casino demanding access to better housing, sanitation and potable water.

They demanded Gauteng premier David Makhura come attend to their complaints.
“Roads are now open and things appear to be calm, but police and metro officials are keeping a close eye on the area,” Lesabane said.
