Wierdabrug police watch thief’s movements before arrest

Wierdabrug police recently arrested a 34-year-old man for breaking into cars and theft.
The suspect was found in possession of stolen property, according to police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma.
“He was arrested at Heuweloord at the traffic light on the N14 and R55 roads where he and a friend were breaking into cars.”
Huma said police had earlier received information about people smashing cars.

“The police went and waited for the suspects in the veld, along with private security members.”
Huma said police spotted the two men at the traffic lights and observed their movements.
“One suspect broke a vehicle’s window and took a cellphone from the victim, who drove away.”
Police and security members managed to chase the suspects on foot and arrested one of them with the stolen cellphone still in his hand, she said.
Police are investigating and the suspect will appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon.
