Cable theft plunges east in dark

The theft of the electricity wires has left Moreleta Park without power.

“Cable thieves” have plunged various areas in the east of the city in the dark, the Tshwane metro has said.

Spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the metro received a cable-trip signal in Wonderboom, Onderstepoort, Pretoria North and Doornpoort areas, “symptomatic of cable theft”.

He said Moreleta Park extensions 9, 23, 28, 44, 47, 51 and 67 were without power and “engineers and electricians are onsite to repair and replace the cables”.

Mashigo said power would probably be restored to all affected areas around 22:00.

He urged affected residents to report the power failure by SMSing the word “power” followed by your account number to 082-612-0333 or 44676 or call 012-358-9999 or 080-1111-556.
