Heavily armed men have made off with an undisclosed amount of money in yet another cash van robbery in Hammanskraal, police said.

“The vehicle was on its way from collecting cash from Temba liquor store,” said Leshabane.

It was alleged the armed men, in a white Golf 6, Grey Golf 7 and a White Jetta 5, shot the van’s tyres and when it came to a halt “dragged out the two occupants and disarmed them at gunpoint.
“They blew the cash-safe open with explosives and took an undisclosed amount of cash, then fled the scene.”
He said 15 spent rifle cartridges were found at the scene.
“The driver sustained head injuries during the robbery,” said Lesabane.
“The robbers are still at large and the investigation is underway.”
There has been a spike in the number of cash van ambushes throughout the country in recent months.
