Atteridgeville man caught with 8 kilos of dagga

The dagga is valued at around R45 000.

A man was arrested for possession of about eight kilograms of dagga in Atteridgeville on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old was arrested at a house in Mariana Street around 10:50.

“The Tshwane West drug unit received information about a drug-house,” Hercules police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango told Rekord.

“They followed [up on] the tip-off and found the suspect inside the mentioned house.

The house was searched and three plastics of dagga weighing around 8 kilograms were found,” said Msimango.

He was expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of dagga.

The value of the seized dagga was estimated to be around R45 000.

Tshwane West cluster commander Major-General Tommy Mthombeni recently deployed a dedicated team to focus on drugs in the streets and schools.

“We appeal to the community to give more information related to drugs and other offences,” he said.
