Man gets nine months for sheep theft
The man stole sheep which belonged to a senior police officer.
A man who was arrested after being found in possession of stolen sheep belonging to a Klipgat police officer has been jailed.
Ismael Sejake (37), from Winterveldt, was sentenced by the Ga-Rankuwa magistrate’s court on Wednesday to nine months in prison for stock theft or a R3 000 fine.
Sejake was arrested on June 30 last year after he was found in possession of two stolen sheep worth more than R5 000 belonging to a senior Loate-based policeman.
Dube police spokesperson Seargent Thembi Nowathe said police came across the two men between Bushveldt and Soutpan Road in Winterveldt carrying two sheep.

Nowathe said police had received information that two men were selling sheep.
This was the same morning Colonel Seatlolo Pheko had reported his sheep had been stolen.
“Police acted on the information and went out to investigate,” said Nowathe.
“They came across two men between Bushveldt and Soutpan Road in Winterveldt carrying two sheep and stopped and interrogated them.
“During questioning, a suspect admitted he stole the sheep. The men took the officers to a house in the area and upon investigation they found a third sheep tied up with a rope.”
Nowathe said both men were arrested and taken to Dube police station.
The man Sejake was arrested with, argued he was not involved in the theft of the two sheep and was released with a warning.
The three sheep were returned to the owner.
