UPDATE: No arrests made in north cash-in-transit heist

Bystanders who took money from a bombed cash-in-transit heist vehicle in the north of Pretoria at the weekend could face charges of tampering with a crime scene.
“It is the scene of a crime so an investigation will be done,” said police spokesperson Kay Makhubele.
“Police will find whomever tampered with the scene.”
The perpetrators of the cash-in-transit heist in Karen Park are still at large.
It was unclear how many people were involved in the robbery, but it was suspected that more than 10 robbers were involved.
The daring heist was carried out around 08:30 on Saturday morning.
A woman driving past in her car was shot in the leg during the shoot-out between robbers and Fidelity guards, said Makhubele.
Two vehicles were also damaged in the incident.

An eyewitness from the nearby Wonderpark Estate said he heard gunshots along Heinrich Avenue before the vehicle was brought to a stop, just after the corner of Heinrich and First avenues.
“We heard gunshots from Wonderpark until the vehicle eventually stopped at the corner,” he said.
“The suspects shot at the tyres, which forced the vehicle to stop,” said Pretoria North police spokesperson Captain Rebecca Phatlane.
She said the three Fidelity security officers who were in the vehicle were forced to lie down on the ground by the armed attackers.
Fidelity Security Group said none of their security officers were injured in the incident.
“At this point, we are still reviewing footage and interviewing our officers to try and establish all the facts,” said company spokesperson Arthur Gibson.
“We are also working closely with the local police.”
He noted that there had been an increase in the number of cash-in-transit robberies over the past few months.
He also noted that firearms and explosives were being used in these attacks.
“We are advocating a stronger partnership approach between all stakeholders to help make the transport of money safer and to avoid the senseless loss of life in many cases,” he said.
“We are pushing for better crime intelligence to help identify the syndicates responsible for many of these incidents.”
