Police welcomed the sentences the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court recently handed down to three CBD robbers.
Pretoria Central police spokesperson Sergeant Tsietsi Lamola said they were overjoyed with the sentences.
Bongani Ngwenya (25) was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment with no option of fine two weeks ago for a robbery he committed last January.
Moses Muzi Masango and Nkosinathi Mpando (both 36) were sentenced to 15 years each for a different robbery they committed last June.
All the robberies were committed in the CBD, according to Lamola.
Investigating officers Detective Constable Beverly Boroko and Constable Tebogo Makhatholela were both applauded for securing the convictions.
“It is really good work done,” said acting Station Commander Colonel Moses Dladla.
“It shows that our members are working tirelessly with sleepless nights in the fight against crime.”
