Lewende Woord Montana celebrates five years
“We only had 14 people in our first service.”
Lewende Woord in Montana celebrated their five years’ anniversary in style with a market on Saturday.
The event boasted stalls selling a variety of goods including handicraft goods and home-cooked food. About 16 groups participated in a potjiekos competition.
“This is a community event because we exist because of the community,” said church administrator Lizette du Plessis.

Pastor Mario Steyn said their zeal to spread the gospel is what has kept them going.
“I still remember how there was only 14 people in our first service,” he said.
“Now we have over 700 congregation members.”
Steyn said they also have a teenage church, which focuses mainly on the youth.
Children at the event had fun at the jumping castle and could get their faces painted.
The event wound up with a church service and Danie Botha singing.
