Elderly man arrested following Atteridgeville shooting

Three people were wounded during the shooting.

A man who allegedly shot and wounded three people in Atteridgeville on Sunday handed himself over to the police yesterday.

The incident happened at Modisakeng Street at around 21:00, according to police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.

The suspect, who is believed to be in his 60s, handed himself over to the police on Monday.

A 9mm firearm was recovered before he was taken into custody, said Moloto.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.

All three victims were taken to Kalafong Hospital.

A case of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm has been opened.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville magistrate’s court soon.
