UPDATE: Hammanskraal child porn case ‘travesty of justice’

Women and Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA) has expressed outrage at the slow progress of a Hammanskraal child porn case.
The organisation said nine members of a Hammanskraal family – a grandfather, his wife, their two sons, their wives, his brother, the brother’s wife and their mentally disabled son – were charged with 53 charges including rape, indecent assault, sexual grooming of children, possession, manufacturing and distribution of child pornography in 2010.
Two were acquitted in 2015 and one sentenced to nine years in prison.
The case against the remainder was on Wednesday postponed by the Pretoria Regional Court to 25 September to give the defence time to present witnesses.
WMACA operations manager Tania Otto said this was time-wasting.
“This case has been a complete travesty of justice. It’s been 8-years and the defence is continuing with its delaying tactics.”
It was alleged six minors were forced to commit sexual acts among themselves and filmed for the purpose of producing child pornography.
The minors were immediately after the arrest placed in foster care but it was understood one, now 18, had gone back to the family.
