More than 100 people have been arrested during operation fiela in the west of Pretoria and the CBD.
The SAPS and other law enforcement agencies, including Tshwane metro police, Tshwane emergency services, Gauteng traffic, SA revenue service customs unit, Icasa, department of Home Affairs and PMP security embarked on the crime prevention initiative across Pretoria CBD and surrounding areas, said police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.
“Roadblocks were conducted along Church Street near Atteridgeville including stop and search which saw more than 72 fines issued to motorists.
“Over a hundred people were arrested for various offences, including possession of drugs, possession of suspected stolen property, dealing in liquor without a license, and illegal immigrants.

Moloto said the main objective of the operation was to make Pretoria a safe environment for the public and tourists visiting the capital city of South Africa.
“All suspects are expected to appear in court soon.”
