Two men have been arrested after they were caught in possession of unlicensed firearm in Pretoria CBD on Friday night.
Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said on Saturday the arrest took place on the corner of Sisulu and Pretorius streets around 19:00.
Police crime preventions units were on routine patrol conducting a stop-and-search when they spotted two suspicious men walking along Sisulu Street. After noticing the police, the men fled on foot and a chase ensued before they were cornered and arrested,” he said.

Moloto said two 9mm firearms were recovered along with two pairs of hand gloves.
“Police investigation is continuing to establish whether these suspects are linked with other criminal activities in and around Pretoria.”
He said a case of possession of unlicensed firearms was opened at Pretoria Central SAPS.
