A robber was shot and wounded in Mamelodi following a police chase on Saturday evening.
“There was a robbery in Chantelle, Akasia yesterday (Saturday) where a vehicle was stolen,” said police spokesperson Constable Zanele Mtsweni.
It is believed that the robber stole the VW Jetta and fled to Mamelodi, where he was followed by police.
Mtsweni said the robber fired shots at the police when he noticed that he was being chased.
“Shots were exchanged between the police and the alleged suspect. He was shot and wounded in the process.”

According to Akasia CPF, the robber was shot in the arm and apprehended.
The vehicle and stolen items were recovered.
