Bafana Bafana player released on bail

Reports suggest that the player in question is Andile Jali, but the midfielder has denied the accusations.

Tshwane metro police still won’t reveal the identity of the Bafana Bafana player who was arrested for drunk driving in Hatfield on Saturday evening.

Police did, however, confirm that the player in question is “a former Orlando Pirates player”.

The man spent a night behind bars before being released on R1 000 bail the next day.

He was one of 15 people arrested for driving under the influence during an anti-crime operation in Tshwane.

The man will appear in court on 15 May 2019.

“We are still waiting for the results from the laboratory of the blood that was taken from him (to determine the alcohol in his system) and that will be presented to the court as evidence,” police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba told Rekord.

Various media outlets have hinted that the player in question is Andile Jali.
