UPDATE: Hunt on for Sunnyside flat killers

“The victim was pushed out the window and fell seven floors to the ground.”

The Sunnyside police are still on the hunt for the killers of the 23-year-old man thrown to his death from a seventh-floor flat.

Spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said it appeared Shaun Douglas Chabalala and a friend were lured to the flat on 6 May responding to an online ad for a luxury camera for sale.

He said reports suggested instead they were attacked by a group of men and robbed of cash and cellphones.

“The friend managed to escape but unfortunately, Chabalala was pushed through the window and fell down to the ground,” Mavimbela said.

He said the police had asked locals to help locate an individual known as “Ekene” whom they believed could assist investigators by calling them on 012-422-3604, 08600-10111 or by sending an SMS to 32211.

Mavimbela said the suspects had moved out of the building since the incident.

He said police were investigating a case of murder and robbery.

Meanwhile, social media users had since taken to Twitter to call for the shutdown of Tambotie Flat.
