Investigation still ongoing surrounding the death of two East siblings
Autopsy reports revealed that the toddlers died of poison.
Police still have no leads in the case of two Mamelodi toddlers who died in February after they were allegedly given poisoned sweets to eat by a stranger.
A police spokesperson, however, told Rekord they “are working day and night on the investigation”.
“We will not stop until the case has been solved,” said police spokesperson Captain Johannes Maheso.
Lungile (5) and Faith (3) Nkosi died of poisoning on 28 February.
Maheso said police did not know as yet which type of poison was used, or how the children were poisoned.
The mysterious deaths have shocked the community of Mamelodi.
The family said on the day the children died, they asked their mother Ria Nkosi to unwrap the sweets they had on them.
They went to play outside, but soon Faith came back into the house, complaining that a sweet was stuck in her throat.

Her mother tried to dislodge the sweet before rushing her to the hospital, but the toddler died on the way.
The family said Lungile started vomiting shortly after Faith was rushed to the hospital.
Neighbours were called to help, but he died at home.
The shocked family described the deaths as “senseless”.
