Centurion councillor wants solutions for cable theft
“I am with the team on site and we can now confirm that cable was stolen in broad daylight behind a heap. This is a first.”
Centurion suburbs were again plunged into darkness for several hours after “yet another cable theft incident”.
The Tshwane metro said Raslouw, Heuwelsig, Monavoni and some along the R55 were affected after “cable was stolen on the road”.
“The City is adamant that regular patrols of hotspots by the TMPD will make it difficult for any excavation to be done along servitudes where there are feeder cables.”
Ward councillor Kingsley Wakelin kept the residents updated on the repairs via social media.
“I am with the team on site and we can now confirm that cable was stolen in broad daylight behind a heap. This is a first,” said Wakelin.
He said after repairs the cables would need better protection.
“We urgently need to find solutions.”
