South Africa’s elite Hawks police division says it will prioritise last Friday evening’s cash-in-transit heist in the east of Pretoria.
The heist took place on the corner of East Watermeyer Street and Simon Vermooten Road on the N4 in Silverton.
Hawks spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mulamu said this was one of several robberies in the metro and province the unit is investigating.
“There hasn’t been any breakthrough yet,” she said.
“However, we are working with crime intelligence and other law enforcement agencies to ensure that we find the perpetrators.”

The cash-in-transit truck was on its way from Hammanskraal on the N4 to a G4S depot when men armed with assault rifles forced it off the road it near the Murrayfield off-ramp by shooting at it.
It was bombed open and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.
Social media reports said about 12 suspects were involved in the incident that left two guards injured.
Mulamo could not, however, confirm the number of people involved in the attack.
Eyewitness Nokhuthula Makhubela told Rekord she was driving on the N4 when she heard a bang noise and saw notes of money flying “all over the place” from the opposite side of the road.
“When I realised what was happening, I did not stop I continued driving because such things are usually involved guns,” she said.
“I was so scared I peed myself.”
This was but one of four cash-in-transit heists that took place in the east of Pretoria over the past weeks.
On 4 April, a cash-in-transit vehicle was forced off the road and robbed along Petroleum Road in Waltloo, Silverton.

Almost a month later, another cash-in-transit vehicle was robbed in Silverton.
Three days later, a police officer and a member of the public were injured in a shootout involving about 10 suspects on the N4 near the Simon Vermooten off-ramp.
Meanwhile, SBV security posted on their twitter account that they were offering a cash reward to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of any cash-in-transit robbers.
