Metro cops arrest hijacker at Hatfield Gautrain parking lot
"The suspect tried to escape when he saw the metro cops approaching."
Metro police arrested a suspected hijacker at the Gautrain parking area in Jan Shoba Street in Hatfield on Wednesday.
The man was found in possession of a Mercedes Benz, which was reported stolen earlier the day.
“The TMPD K9 unit responded to an alert regarding a hijacked vehicle which was spotted in the Hatfield area,” said metro police spokesperson Senior Superintend Isaac Mahamaba.
The suspect allegedly tried to escape when he saw the metro cops approaching, and found in possession of Mercedes Benz car keys.
“The keys were tested on the vehicle and they were indeed the keys for the hijacked Benz,” said Mahamaba.
The man was then arrested.
