North police operations yield success
As many as 33 illegal immigrants were arrested in sector 1.
The Sinoville police led a local cleanup operation recently.
Spokesperson Captain Annemarie Verster said in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the police, Sinoville CPF, security teams, Tshwane metro police and the Department of Home Affairs descended on sector 1 which included Annlin.
Verster said this was the first of many operations that would be carried weekly to rid the policing area north of Pretoria of crime.
“The police work closely with residents and ward councillors to determine where the problem areas in the community are,” said Verster adding vagrancy and loitering were tackled.
“Police stopped and searched people in the streets – arresting as many as 33 illegal immigrants, one man for possession of drugs and another for possession of a stolen car key.”
She said theft of and out of vehicles were prevalent crimes in the area, especially near schools, businesses and shopping malls.
“We identified several hotspots and the operation was a great success, thanks to all the parties involved.”
