Three house robbery suspects arrested in the east
The police spotted the car driving in the far east of Mamelodi and managed to corner it.
The Mamelodi East police arrested three suspects in possession of suspected stolen property on Wednesday afternoon.
Police spokesman Captain Michael Mbewe said among the three arrested suspects, aged between 30 and 42 years, one was a security officer.
The suspects were found in possession of a stolen vehicle, an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and suspected stolen property when the arrests were made.
“The [first] arrest happened after police were told to look out for a silver Ford Ranger that was stolen in a house robbery at Vaalbank, Mpumalanga earlier in the day,” Mbewe said.
Moments later, the police spotted the car driving in the far east of Mamelodi and managed to corner it in extension 12, arresting two of the suspects.
The police were then led to a site in extension 10 in Mamelodi, where more stolen property linked to the house robbery was hidden.
After searching and finding the properties, police also arrested a third suspect and one more firearm and ammunition was seized.
The suspects will soon appear before the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court for possession of suspected stolen properties, unlicensed firearm and ammunition, with potentially more charges to be added.
The recovered stolen property included electric appliances.
Mbewe concluded that the police are still on the lookout for more suspects.
Any tip-offs can be directed to the police on 012-815-7080 or 086-00-10111.
